Hi,I’m Eric.

A few years ago, I noticed something about my life that didn’t sit right with me.

I wasn’t necessarily unhappy. I wasn’t addicted to social media in the way people usually think about it. I still worked, spent time with family, and got outside when I could.

But somewhere along the way, my attention had slowly been pulled away.

I found myself reaching for my phone without thinking. Opening YouTube to look up one thing and losing hours. Picking it up during quiet moments simply because it was there. My mind always seemed busy, even when nothing was happening.

One day, after spending nearly four hours researching something online, I realized I hadn’t actually accomplished what I set out to do. I had bounced from video to video, recommendation to recommendation, and by the end of it I had a headache and felt mentally exhausted.

That moment made me stop and ask a simple question:

Is this really how I want to spend my life?

The answer was no.

So I started making small changes.

I left my phone at home when I went for walks.

I spent more time outside.

I stopped feeling like every moment needed to be photographed.

I began paying attention again.

And something unexpected happened.

The world hadn’t changed.

I had.

I started noticing details I’d walked past hundreds of times before. Sunsets became something to experience instead of something to capture. Conversations felt more meaningful. Life became quieter—not because everything around me changed, but because my mind finally had room to breathe.

That journey became the inspiration for Disconnect to Reconnect.

What You’ll Find Here

This isn’t a blog about abandoning technology.

I love technology. It’s helped me learn new skills, build this website, connect with amazing people, and create things I never thought possible.

Technology isn’t the enemy.

Mindless technology is.

Here, you’ll find articles about:

  • Digital minimalism
  • Living with intention
  • Being more present
  • Simplifying everyday life
  • Spending more time outdoors
  • Letting go of unhealthy habits
  • Building healthier relationships with technology
  • Finding joy in ordinary moments

Sometimes I’ll tell personal stories.

Sometimes I’ll write practical how-to guides.

Sometimes I’ll simply share something that made me stop and think.

If it helps you slow down, reconnect with what matters, or see life from a different perspective, then it belongs here.

My Philosophy

I don’t believe we need to throw our phones away.

I don’t believe social media is automatically bad.

And I don’t believe life has to become complicated to become meaningful.

I believe small, intentional choices made consistently can completely change the way we experience life.

Sometimes that means putting the phone down.

Sometimes it means taking a walk.

Sometimes it means saying no to something that no longer serves us.

Sometimes it means making room for the people, places, and moments that deserve our full attention.

That’s what this blog is about.

Thanks for Being Here

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by technology, trying to simplify your life, or you’re simply curious about slowing down for a while, I’m glad you’re here.

I don’t have all the answers.

I’m figuring this out too.

This isn’t a place where someone has everything mastered.

It’s a place where we learn together.

So grab a cup of coffee—or your favorite drink—and stay awhile.

I’m glad you found your way here.
